Episode #035 - The Update Show

Download | Duration: 00:16:47

Short show, take in the knowledge.

I updated 2 of my favorite devices, the Amazon Kindle 2 and my Roku Netflix player. Both devices updated nicely and I was really impressed with the Roku Channel Store that offers up some great content. The cable operators are in the corner urinating on themselves because this looks like the beginning of the end for them. I'm thinking about a shorter show format. What's your thoughts on this? The software/website for this episode is Zinio.com. I enjoy getting my magazines in digital format and I think you may enjoy this too. So check them out. That's right folks Windows 7 is finally out and it's golden. Go out and get it or get it on a new machine. You won't be sorry. Ars Technica reports that our elected officials are going to vote on The Performance Rights Act. This should make it fair and square when it comes to who gets paid no matter who plays the song. Google Editions wants to start selling e-books, now this would be a cool thing, you can't have Amazon lock up the market just because it has the Kindle. Barnes & Nobles also has a new e-book reader and it's called the Nook, look for it soon. According to a News Factor story Hulu is hoping to start a pay version of there content streaming service. But at what cost?
This episode's cool site is Google Calender, if you need a simple way to stick appointments, birthdays and what have you on an online calender, then it's Google Calender to the rescue.

All by myself.....

Yup, I'm solo on this episode so let's get to it. Microsoft releases a new anti-virus/malware program that is pretty basic but pretty cool and it works. They are calling it Microsoft Security Essentials. Also the good folks at Ars Technica have a great story about syncing your cell phone information to the cloud using 4 different services. One of them is being brought to you by Best Buy Mobile, it's called mIQ and it will be officially released to the world on October 12. This episode's software/website should bring some laughter to you and those around you unless they offend easily. Check out Joe Cartoon, they have some hilarious cartoons that tackle everyday life subjects and idiots in the news.
